LeadingAge North Carolina's Leadership Academy develops the skills of professionals in aging services through a yearlong program. Recently, the group came to Piedmont Crossing to see how we operate and serve our residents. The group pictured represents the cohort of 19 people (including Piedmont Crossing's own director of marketing, Penny Winfree!) who will graduate in Asheville on May 8 at the NC LeadingAge conference. Last week, Carl Shatley, an accomplished lecturer and artist – and a regular presenter at Piedmont Crossing – shared with our residents and other community members a fascinating look at the life of Milton Hershey. Not only was Hershey the original American chocolatier, he was also a self-made inventor, businessman, manufacturer, philanthropist and utopian dreamer.
